Poultry Drinkers

                                                                                                                                                        From Poultry Drinking Troughs, and Poultry Trap Drinkers, to more specific items
of equipment, S.P.R. Centre have all types of poultry drinkers to suit your needs.

We also make sure that all our products are of good quality, and adequately fulfil the purpose
for which they are intended. Of course, some materials are more durable and resistant to heavy
use than others, so this needs to be kept in mind when purchasing your equipment.

So which Poultry Drinker should you choose?

Our Plastic Poultry Drinkers are made from durable, high density material, designed to be used outdoors
and to resist the effects of ultra violet rays, which can make other 'plastics' brittle over a period of exposure.

 Plastic Poultry Drinkers are also usually cheaper to buy, and so often a good choice in the short term, as they       should be good for two to four seasons. Plastic Poultry Drinkers are also an ideal purchase for indoor use.

  Galvanised Poultry Drinkers such as the Trough Poultry Drinker (left)
are made from heavy gauge sheet steel,  galvanised after manufacture.   This means they will not rust or rot to any degree, and will endure     many years of outdoor use against the elements.

  The Galvanised Fountain Drinker (right)                                                                         features a seamless pan to prevent wastage,                                                                       and a sturdy top handle for easy transportation.

Galvanised Poultry Drinkers are usually the most expensive in the short term, as the manufacturing
process and materials used are costly, but they will last for many years under duress.

Once the birds have settled into the house and run area, we recommend that you keep your poultry drinkers outside the house.

Reasons for this are as follows:

* Keeping a poultry drinker outside will reduce the build up of harmful bacteria.

* Spills when placing the
poultry drinkers, or water being flicked by beaks, will cause
unnecessary humidity in the poultry house, resulting in the litter getting damp quickly.

* Keeping a
poultry drinker outside will also prolong the life of any wooden floored
poultry house, and less space is taken up on the floor inside the poultry house.

* Birds do not have to keep entering the poultry house to drink.

* When deciding on the size of a poultry drinker,
    allow at least half a gallon (4.5 litres) per 6 birds.

* You must check the poultry drinker every day.

* It is important that your hens have a regular supply     of clean water for good health.
