Black Rhodes

18 Weeks Old, Point of Lay Pullets

Black Rhodes

The Black Rhode is a hybrid which has been bred from a
Rhode Island Red cockerel, crossed with a Plymouth Barred Rock hen.

They are the 'ideal' free range hen, laying top quality large brown eggs. Their heavy plumage also makes them suitable for all climates, and having a high immunity to disease, means good productivity over several seasons. They are ideal for small scale and back garden poultry keepers, where culling poultry is not the favoured option.

Black Rhode's are docile birds, and as such are a good starter for the first time poultry keeper, often becoming family pets. They are not de-beaked, and so are able to scratch and peck around happily, and they       will range as far as you will let them. We recommend that to get the best out of these hens, feed a good quality layers mash, (fed dry and ad lib). They require protein to create their eggs, so if you give them a properly balanced laying ration it is possible to get 280+ quality brown eggs in the first year of lay. You can also expect a good quality shell and contents.

The hens are fully vaccinated, including protection against Infectious bronchitis and Mareks disease.
They are also reared indoors, and so they come to you disease and worm free.

Black Rhode
