18 week old Point of Lay Pullets - Black Rhodes

The Black Rhode hen is a hybrid bred from a Rhode Island Red cockerel cross Plymouth Barred Rock hen, and is the ideal free range hen laying top quality large brown eggs. Their heavy plumage makes them suitable for all climates and a high immunity to disease means good productivity over several seasons. This also makes them ideal for small scale and back garden poultry keepers where culling poultry is not a favoured option.

They are docile birds and as such are a good starter for the first time poultry keeper, often becoming family pets. They are not de-beaked and so are able to scratch and peck around happily and will range as far as you let them. We recommend to get the best out of these hens, to feed a good quality layers mash, fed dry and ad lib. They need protein to created the eggs, so if you give them a properly balanced laying ration, it is possible to get 280+ quality brown eggs in the first year of lay. You can also expect a good quality shell and contents.
These hens are fully vaccinated,  including for Infectious bronchitis and Mareks disease. They are reared indoors and so come to you disease and worm free.

We have one batch of pullets during every month of the year excluding December. They are available in numbers from 2 to 200 (larger numbers possible on application).  They are available for collection only, but delivery can be quoted on larger numbers.

NB: All poultry should be collected within 10 days of the collection date notified by SPR. We reserve the right to resell pullets not collected within this time framework unless otherwise agreed. After the 10 day period, the price of the pullet will be increased by 5p per day. Unless cancellations are received no later than 14 days before the first possible collection date, the customer is responsible for paying the whole or part of the cost of the order (unless otherwise agreed).

We prefer customers to book in advance for their hens, and so don't leave it too late before you enquire about buying pullets.

Prices start at £7.90 per bird with discounts on 25 birds and over. To book, phone us on 01243 542815 or email us on info@sprcentre.co.uk  We will need your name, address, contact telephone number and quantity required. Payment on collection.
